Stockton came from a hoarding situation and was seized along with other numerous dogs.  He came to us basically feral but has made progress enough that we have deemed him ready for adoption to a special home.   That home or family will need to take this boy to the next level, with patience, time and understanding.  Most dogs who have not been socialized well at the proper age, will have lingering issues.  Stockton's adoptive family must be willing to accept this but at the same time, be willing to train him to be the best that he can be.  Stockton will need a quiet home with someone who is home most of the time and is willing to spend the time needed to hold him, gradually introduce him to walks in the neighborhood and new situations but also provide a quiet, stress free environment.  Stockton would greatly benefit from another dog in the household who could "show him the ropes', so to speak.  If you think you could provide this boy with the special care he needs please feel free to call our Executive Director, Janie Hopper at 530-276-9364 (evenings are best).  Stockton is about 3 years old and 13 lbs.

As with most rescue/shelter dogs, he or she may or may not be housebroken, or at the least need a readjustment /re-training period. If you are not able or willing to retrain a dog with housebreaking in a gentle, repetitious manner please DO NOT APPLY.  NEW DOGS REQUIRE SPECIAL HANDLING, TIME and CARE.
