This incredibly handsome Xolo (Mexican Hairless Dog) is not only gorgeous but has an incredibly winning personality as well.  Aztec came to us from a shelter, where he was surrendered by his owners who could no longer care for him.  Aztec is considered a mini Xolo, weighing in at about 14 lbs, but should put on a bit of weight.  He is about 3 years old and in great health.  Aztec loves everyone and most dogs as well.  He gets particularly excited when he sees children and can't seem to hold himself back - he doesn't have much training so tends to want to jump on them and lick.  He is very playful, and pretty energetic.  He is also a talker - loves to be stroked and lets you know that he loves it.  If you know the breed and are interested in adopting this unusual companion you won't be sorry.  We would prefer someone with breed experience or who has done enough research on the breed to know they might want to explore adoption.  Xolos do require particular skin care, sunscreen and sweaters during the winter months.  We would also prefer a home with someone who is home most of the time but yet has enough energy to walk or hike each day as well as frequent play sessions.  A home with dog savvy kids would be great as well.  We are willing to wait for the just the right match.

Please read the following carefully before applying:

YOU MUST HAVE A SECURE, FENCED YARD TO ADOPT ONE OF OUR DOGS.  PARTIAL FENCING IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.  Please see side menu for an explanation.

As with most rescue/shelter dogs, he or she may or may not be housebroken, or at the least need a readjustment /re-training period. If you are not able or willing to retrain a dog with housebreaking in a gentle, repetitious manner please DO NOT APPLY.  NEW DOGS REQUIRE SPECIAL HANDLING, TIME and CARE. MAKE SURE YOU ARE WILLING TO MAKE THIS COMMITMENT BEFORE APPLYING.

We require adopters to first fill out our adoption app online. You cannot proceed with the adoption without it. This application has been developed using over 25 years of experience. It helps the adopter and us to make only the beginning of a good match; please be advised that if you do fill out the application, you may not be suitable for the dog you are applying for OR you may not meet our adoption requirements.

WE DO NOT ADOPT OUR DOGS TO HOMES WITH UNALTERED PETS...NO EXCEPTIONS! WHY?  CLICK ON SPAY/NEUTER ON THE LEFT HAND MENU.
